Seiu 1000 Contract Raises 2020

On a broad front, civil servants will be increased by up to 5.6% in the new contract. All government employees will receive a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective December 1, 2021 and a 3.1% cost-of-living increase effective December 1, 2022. Thus, the 1000 local employees represented will receive out of 1. July of this year, their overall salary increase is planned by 2% for 2021. And as previously announced, the 9.23% salary cut based on the PLP will be eliminated. Remote work and alternative schedules State workers have proven that they can do their job well and efficiently in the most difficult circumstances. The new contract encourages remote work if it is a viable option that benefits employees and agencies.

The Working Group met regularly from August 2020 to March of this year. Management`s initial proposal was a two-year contract with a 2% increase in 2021 and a 1.85% increase in 2022. Because of the historic victories won by the state during this legislature, SEIU members and our state bargaining team have lobbied management to please our members and put a better deal on the table. Thanks to the participation of members and the steps they have taken to support the negotiations, we have won. The current contract with Unit 1 runs from January 2, 2020 to June 30, 2023 The Cost Savings Task Force report focuses on four types of savings concepts: procurement, personal service contracts, innovation and best practices. In total, the CSTF`s recommendations cover a total of 14 different categories, ranging from purchasing and negotiation practices to managing private provider contracts, information technology investments and the increased use of solar energy and LED lighting.
